Managed IT, Operations, Accounting, and HR.  Acted as operational visionary, evangelist. Created new company strategies, visions, and goals and used those to implement solutions including hardware/software solutions, policies and procedures, written documentation, human resources, and outsourced solutions.

Worked with staff to identify operational and marketing inefficiencies, and define reasonable solutions.  Implemented changes allowing sales and revenue to increase by 300% over a three-year period.

Created a new accounting department.  Implemented intelligent trend analysis, business intelligence reporting, and clear coherent financials allowing the company to make reasonable business decisions, safely hire new staff, and spend capital effectively raising overall revenues by $2.4M, and saving nearly $300,000 in taxes the first year alone.

Used new CRM and accounting systems to reduce average 90 day AR from 50% of outstanding revenue to less than 5%.

Architected and built new High Availability Highly Scalable web hosting environment spanning two geographically diverse data centers, with real time replication and failover capabilities.

Created the team who upgraded all systems at K.I. Tobey from circa 1997 systems to Windows 2000 Server utilizing Active Directory, and Windows XP.

Radiant Research 1998-2000

A comprehensive clinical research company


Director, IT

Managed all aspects of Information Technology, including desktop and server computing, databases, LAN/WAN, IT policies and procedures, and telephone/communication systems.

Developed and implemented the IT infrastructure plans for Radiant Research.  This plan provided the infrastructure to grow Radiant Research from 5 non-networked sites with $10M/year in company revenue to a fully networked, 40 site, $65M/year company.  It included a North American wide area network, and two North American data centers.

Created Radiant Research’s national WAN using private frame relay, ISDN, DSL, Virtual Private Networks, and Voice Over IP.

Designed and conducted local and distance-based corporate training programs.  The distance based training systems used Windows Terminal Services, Citrix Metaframe, and other remote computer control products, which provided real time interactive training to remote users.

Participated in numerous corporate acquisitions and managed the integration of all new acquisitions into Radiant Research’s computing and telephony environment.

Oversaw the development of Radiant Research’s Internet strategy and corporate web site.

Managed all technology-related business relationships with contractors, vendors, and customers (including AmGen, Merck, and Covance.)

Created and managed Pacific Science Center's Computer Services Department, which managed and maintained all aspects of Technology.  This includes PSC's Web site, overall Internet presence, telephone systems, e-mail systems, computer based exhibits, virtual reality systems, and interactive displays.

Designed and taught technology training programs for all PSC staff.

Managed 450-user telephone and voice mail system.

Designed, installed, and managed 280+ node Local Area Network and Wide Area Network, using a variety of technologies including 100Mbit fiber networks, frame relay, and wireless local area networking.

Installed, managed, and networked servers and systems in ten buildings spanning three cities.

Used a heterogeneous agglomeration of existing and new computing and networking hardware to create an integrated and secure network to serve all business and educational goals.

Consulted with all PSC departments and staff to help them define their current and future technology needs, as well as to help them with all their technical support needs.

Acted as technology consultant during the development of all of PSC’s exhibits, classes, and programs.

Acted as public relations liaison for all computer and Internet related requests for information.

Worked with Director of Science to coordinate the team who designed and built the $1.25 million TechZone and Water Works exhibits at Pacific Science Center. 

Managed, designed, and/or specified all aspects of the TechZone Exhibit, including exhibits on robotics, virtual reality, computing, the Internet, and telecommunications.

Managed all purchasing of computer and robotics hardware for Pacific Science Center, including all desktop computers, workstations, servers, specialty computer systems, and exhibits.

Designed and implemented "bulletproof" computer systems for use as public access workstations, using off the shelf as well as customized hardware and software components including a "Netscape Kiosk".

Worked with PSC’s outreach programs to design bulletproof technology exhibits for use in assembly presentations in schools throughout Washington.
